A free background generator for surfaces, gradients and loops
Background Generator makes abstract backgrounds in your browser. Pick a surface in a material such as satin, chrome, glass, pearl or velvet and it is lit like a product shot, or pick a generative field such as a mesh gradient, an aurora, caustics or a live fluid simulation. Type a headline or add your logo and it can be pressed into the surface as relief, in gold, chrome or glass of its own.
Who it is for
Writers, designers and anyone else who needs a cover, a slide, a post or a website hero without opening a 3D package. Everything renders on your own machine. There is no account and nothing to install.
How it works
Every picture comes from a seed, so the same settings give you the same picture again, and a share link reopens the exact setup. Animated backgrounds loop, with the last frame running straight back into the first.
What it exports
- Stills
- PNG, JPEG or WebP at up to 6000 px on the long edge, or one zip with all nine platform sizes at once, from a phone story to a 6000 px print.
- Loops
- MP4 or WebM video, whichever your browser can write, an animated GIF at 24 fps, or a PNG sequence of every frame.
- Packs
- 8 to 64 seeded variants in one zip, with a contact sheet and a manifest that lets you remake any file.
- Code
- CSS gradients for the mesh and orb styles, an iframe embed that keeps animating on your page, a share link and the full recipe as JSON.
